I just purchased a new motherboard for my Ryzen setup. I'm spending a lot to compensate for the high prices in Brazil, thanks to the local issues and government problems. The motherboard I got is the Asus B450M Prime, which is great for gaming and overclocking. I'm curious if it will work well with my Ryzen 7 2700 both stock and boosted. I'm not very familiar with VRMs, but I'm a bit concerned. My PSU is a Corsair CX 450W and my GPU is an AMD R7 360 (100W).

The chipset supports the Ryzen 2700. However, I wouldn't recommend using this board for overclocking since it lacks heatsinks on the VRMs. According to some discussions, B550 motherboards (the newer chipset) are considered suitable for overclocking in forums about CPUs, boards, and memory.

The outcome depends on the design and tolerance of your setup. If the fans are placed sideways within the VRM, it could cause uneven cooling or mechanical stress. Ensure they fit securely and don’t interfere with critical components.

no, you have to do it from the side of the side panel. There's no heatsink on this board to catch the air if it flows from the side

The CPU should function properly under power constraints. Boost performance will range from 3.8 to 3.9ghz based on temperatures. Single-core XFR can reach up to 4350mhz or 4100mhz, which is solid for Zen+ chips. When I bought the 2700X, it came with an Asus B450M-A board and Corsair LPX. The experience wasn’t great, even with faster memory, because the motherboard didn’t support memory overclocking. The board itself is quite basic, and the power supply is underpowered. Overclocking the CPU to around 4.0ghz at 1.40v would likely consume about 130-140w. Updated September 5, 2020 by ShrimpBrime correction
