Hello! The Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R board should work with your Sapphire R9 280X. Since it has a PCI-E X16 slot just below the RAM slots, your card won’t block them. It also fits within the available space for the graphics card.

It seems your system has issues with the RAM slots and the bottom clips won’t release properly after installing the graphics card.

I've never encountered a desktop motherboard with RAM slots overlapping the extended area. Turns out it's designed for GPUs, allowing almost any model to fit. Also, how far does this fit within your budget? Since it's a Core 2 board, it should be quite affordable compared to today's more expensive options.

Your existing motherboard isn’t compatible with the new GPU, and you’re considering a different setup. Your current CPU isn’t supported by the planned system, which is why you’re looking at an alternative configuration.
