By this stage, unless it was extremely outdated, I’d assume B450 boards had newer BIOS versions.

the issue is that an updated BIOS isn't typical for B450 boards, since it often leads people to purchase more costly X570 models. There are exceptions like the Tomahawk Max, which was my first choice, but they were hard to find for a long time.

For a BIOS update, you can send an email to AMD and receive their complimentary boot kit loaner here https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa...n-Boot-Kit. Alternatively, all B450 motherboards work with every Ryzen processor.

I believe all the -f boards from ASUS are compatible with Ryzen 3000. Otherwise, you'd need to be very lucky to find an older model that still works. I purchased my B450-F at MicroCenter in November, and every board they had available was a 3000 series.
