I just assembled my initial PC, and most functions are working perfectly except for the issue of not launching straight into Windows. The BIOS settings for fixing this aren’t visible. I’m using an ASUS Prime Z790-P board.

Hello, thank you for joining the forums. To assist you better, could you clarify where this information should be directed instead of Windows? For example, is it meant for the BIOS, a blank screen, or something else? Also, please share your complete PC specifications.

How did you set up Windows? Did you adjust any BIOS settings beforehand? When installing on a brand new system like this, you usually don’t need to change BIOS—just let the installer handle it and make sure Windows becomes the main boot option automatically. Unless you made changes, you might want to reset the BIOS to defaults. Also, double-check that you’re replying directly to the person you want to message. If you need further help, just let me know.

Connected via USB, had just one drive attached and didn’t adjust any options in Bio or Windows.

Did you choose the SSD as the first option for boot priority? Many motherboards keep a list of all storage source types that the BIOS checks during startup. If your M.2 SSD isn’t in the top slot, it could take a bit longer to load them, and the system might default to the BIOS setting where you manually pick the drive before booting.

This indicates a failing CMOS battery nearing its end. The CMOS on a motherboard often controls the BIOS settings. BE very careful—ensure power is off, unplugged, and use a properly grounded ESD bracelet. ASUS CMOS details

Note: If this doesn't resolve the issue, you may need to initiate a return or replacement process.

I resolved the issue by addressing the fan speed problem the PC was having. Initially, I followed the BIOS instructions to correct it. After overriding the setting, everything worked properly. Thanks to everyone for your assistance!
