No start menu
No start menu
Hello ladies and gentlemen,
I’m facing some issues with my Lenovo Legion desktop running Windows 11. There’s no start menu available. Even after trying to run a Windows update, I end up in a failed update loop each time I restart the computer—whether before launching Windows or when shutting it down. Despite this, the desktop itself is still functional; the wallpaper, icons, and folders are all intact.
The main concern is this persistent problem. Lenovo has mentioned that Explorer was running out of memory. I’ve restarted the PC multiple times for different tasks, but the memory usage stays between 20-25% (about 16 gigabytes total).
I’ve tried several solutions:
- Uninstalling the latest installed program (Avira antivirus)
- Updating Windows again
- Running "SFC /scannow" via cmd.exe with admin rights, which indicates the system is attempting a repair
- Restoring the system to an older save point (the most recent backup was two days ago and failed)
It’s strange because this seems to be one of the rare instances where the tools just don’t cooperate. I’m wondering if anyone has faced similar issues or can help me resolve this?
Thank you very much for your time.
P.S. - Does the Lenovo Legion tend to cause problems like this? I’ve had three new laptops (ASUS) and several desktops in the past, but this one is acting differently.
