Many players dive into Skyrim mods or custom builds, opting for practical solutions over trial and error. If your gear is outdated or uncomfortable, it’s wise to adapt—either learn better workflows or consider stepping away from modding altogether. Community resources like LOOT and guides offer solid help, but relying solely on them limits your growth. Use the tools at your disposal and focus on progressing rather than reinventing everything.
They mentioned it was automatically included in the nexus mod manager setup. After playing through my modified files for two weeks, I realized the default tool for organizing plugins and shits was actually Loot. Now that I understand, I might have been too simple-minded to check the step guide properly—I'm not stupid!
LOOT exists in MO (Mod Organizer), likely an older version, and it's not advised to depend on it. It hasn't been merged into NMM for quite some time. For NMM I had to handle LOOT separately and test it independently within the game to organize plugins if needed. While LOOT operates somewhat inside MO, it remains a distinct download. I don’t think you’re naive, foolish, or confused—just new to modding Skyrim. Learning how to get, use, and grasp Loot is one of the key first steps.
I just went through some of the STEP wiki details, and it’s clear I’d have to reset everything again. The game is now quite stable—I’ve been playing for about 4 hours straight with only a few long loading screens. At around 30 hours in, I’m thinking about whether it’s worth starting fresh. Sure, there’s the risk of bloated files later, but otherwise keeping my save file makes sense. So, do you think it’s worth a full restart? Also, moving to Mod Organizer sounds like a good idea.
