I'm trying to upgrade a friend's prebuilt PC. The new ATX motherboard requires more motherboard screws than what's currently available. I'm wondering if 6 out of 9 screws would suffice and where I can find the additional ones. I'm also upgrading his system to a Gigabyte or MSI board, and he has small black screws on the motherboard.

Verify for gaps in the MB mount area; you likely have room to shift components or install additional standoffs. As long as there are standoffs beneath the CPU/Ports/Expansion slots section of the board, it should be fine unless you plan to fit a powerful CPU cooler or heavy GPU, in which case you’ll need all the mounting points. You could manage with fewer screws only if the GPU stays fully secured by the expansion plate.
