Howdy, My pc: S2070, 3800x, asus prime x570-P, seasonic 650w platinum, 24gb ram corsair vengeance (was 32, but one stick died months ago, I'm too lazy to order new one) Problem: one I power on pc my gpu fan goes 100% no display. I did try gpu on other pc - start as usual, not such problem. Day 1: So I did manage turn on pc as usual after turning power supply on and off a lot of times . I did change gpu psu cable - pc started booting every time. I did run fifa (pls don't JUDGE) + yt for 2h worked fine. Went to bed for sleep thinking it was cable. Day 2: Trun on pc same issue - cpu fans loud (100% propably) no display. Spoke with my friend he will borrow me his power supply. In mean time I did borrow old motherboard with cpu from my other pal. Connected my PSU to it - works fine, goes to bios. So I decided to plug my GPU as well. X10 resets on that motherboard - x10 pc starts fine and got display. Day 3 Got be quiet 850w, connected pc turns on. Plugged everything like usual (so I know it's 1 to 1 my pc except psu) works fine. I did like 20 resets, with 5 power cycles (turn off, unplug power cable from psu, hold power for few seconds, plug cable in and turn pc on) zero issues. So I run furmark for 30 minutes on new borrowed PSU - Zero issues. Prime 95 for 20 min, cpu was 95 (max according to amd app) on x2 test - zero issues. So I was thinking - oh well somehow my seasonic platinum it's dying. So for rest of evening (like 2h?) decided play fifa (again don't judge plz xD) and watch yt. After 2h of playtime pc reset suddenly, and guess WHAT? GPU sounds like airjet like on my psu and NO DISPLAY.... Tried reset it by trun off psu and on 5 times - same. Waited 5 min on PSU off, 1st try - pc works boot fine. Im going lose my mind soon, does anyone have an idea what's going on? My call is motherboard? As gpu seems to be working on 2 different motherboards with no issues + did work on mine on be quiet powersupply.... Any idea whats wrong with my pc?
It's better to use 2x8 instead of 3x8 since the final 8 GB isn't in dual channel, which could hurt performance. Have you verified all the RAM modules? One failed might mean another is faulty. If RAM checks out, the next likely cause could be the motherboard—similar problems have happened before.
I verified them at the same moment a stick failed. The X2 models are brand new this year and have been with me since I got my PC. All three sticks performed well during memtest. The oddest occurrence was with my power supply: it refused to boot even though everything else worked fine. Last night, when my friend's PSU was running smoothly, it suddenly stopped after a game, then resumed normally afterward.
My PSU boots normally, but sometimes it fails to load. My friend's PSU worked without issues after running some tests. After using Prime95 and firmware updates, I played FIFA with YT in the background for two hours. The PC restarted itself and the problem continued—no display, GPU noise increased. I left it unplugged for five minutes before it started working again. The issue seems to appear with both my PSU and my friend's, but on mine it happens almost constantly. I recently replaced the motherboard to test and it functioned properly, going through BIOS settings without any drives connected. When I added my GPU to the new Intel board, everything worked fine.
Check the Windows event log for any entries around the time of the problem. Assess whether the PC continues to operate smoothly or if audio remains active during the incident. The GPU issue seems likely. Running the test on another machine might help confirm if it repeats.
The only logs appeared yesterday after it restarted, since the main problem is when I shut down the PC—image fails and GPU runs at full fan speed. During yesterday’s reset it worked perfectly, no freezes or audio problems. I suspect the GPU issue, but it was running at full capacity for over 30 minutes with no issues.
You checked if you changed the connectors or simply used the existing ones.
I didn't connect my PSU to my friend's PC. I used his PSU instead, which has fixed cables. I stayed up late tonight (after 1 am in the UK) planning to run a firmware update on my old Intel board with his PSU and my S2070 for about three hours. Before starting, I assumed I hadn't checked the RAM at all—until now. So far, I've used three RAM sticks, each with X3 modules. I ran a quick MemTest on each one. The first two passed without errors. When I tried the third, the PC didn't show any output at all. After turning off the PSU, removing the stick, and reinserting it properly, I still got no display. I tried it again with the other two sticks, each showing a boot-up. This suggests the issue might be with the second old RAM stick. I'll set up my PC tomorrow and test both good and faulty RAM to confirm. Fingers crossed the bad stick is indeed faulty. Edited October 11, 2023 by leuniax
