Hello, when powering on my PC I see the power indicator but nothing starts with the CPU or RAM lights. When I press the power button down to shut it off and then turn it back on, it boots up (sometimes takes a couple tries). This has been happening since day two of building it, about seven weeks ago. I contacted the motherboard manufacturer asking them to change some BIOS settings, which I did but didn’t resolve the issue. They suggested speaking with the company I bought it from so they could test it. They tested it and found no problems, then sent it back. I thought the RAM might be the problem because it wasn’t listed on the compatibility list, so I replaced it with a new one, but the issue continues. When the PC finally turns on, there’s no noticeable slowdown. Have anyone had the same experience or any suggestions? Or should I just accept this as a limitation?
Build details: Ryzen 7 7700X, MSI Mag B650 Tomahawk Wi-Fi, MSI Mag Coreliquid P240 cooler, Corsair 32GB 6000 RAM, Samsung 990 Pro 1TB SSD, ASUS TUF Gaming OC 4070, Corsair RM850E PSU, Corsair 4000D, Windows 11 (unactivated).
What I’ve done: Reassembled all parts and cables. Checked for bent pins, tried installing RAM in different slots, updated BIOS to the latest version.
They didn’t spot any issues on your end with the PC. Still, you’re experiencing the same problems, so it seems something else is responsible.
They only inspected the motherboard, not the entire PC. A friend came over to verify everything was correct, just in case I overlooked something obvious. Any suggestions?
Have you attempted to disable EXPO? If it doesn’t work, the CPU’s memory controller might be defective, possibly indicating a CPU issue.
Expo is presently inactive. I activated it a few weeks back and it functioned properly in timing and startup, but failed to turn back on the following day. Even after repeatedly pressing the power button to switch off and on. That's why I had to flash the BIOS to get it back up.
