Hey guys, I’m really struggling right now! Here’s what I have: i7 8700 ROG Strix, B360G GTX 1080 with 2x8GB RAM, Corsair Vengeance LX 2133mhz DDR4, RM550X power supply, and a working motherboard. The PC lights up after turning on the PSU, but it doesn’t start up at all—just a faint flash. I’ve tried swapping RAM, disconnecting the GPU, reseating connectors, checking for weird smells, and even looking at the case for any odd caps. It seems like the power supply is okay since the board lights up. The CPU looks fine, and the GPU isn’t showing up either. RAM seems normal, but I’m not sure what else could be wrong. My laptop is stuck, and I can’t see anything obvious. What’s going on? Could it be the CPU or something else? I’m really worried!
I understand your concern. It’s possible the power supply could be faulty even if other components seem fine. You might want to check the PSU directly to confirm its functionality.
I swapped the CMOS battery, but seems the PSU was the real issue—it wouldn’t even power up after bridging it off. Fortunately, the unit has a warranty, so I’ll arrange for a replacement. With three weeks until the lockdown, I’m relieved I still have a working PC. It would’ve been better to pick a more favorable day.
