Hey there. I purchased an ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-A gaming Wi-Fi D4 motherboard, but later decided to sell it and upgrade to a DDR5 board. I carefully checked the socket and found three missing pins in the lower left corner. I’m not sure if those are crucial or not. Could anyone help me out? From a diagram, they seem to be the 1 VSS pin and one of the DDR0_DQ6 pins, which should connect to the DDR0_DQSN pin. Thanks!

Other users often mention these issues, and it seems likely to cause problems if ignored. The pins are connected to the RAM and can lead to failures. I’d thoroughly test the motherboard and inform buyers about the missing pins.

I purchased it from a private person who claimed it was new. I'm planning to wait until my CPU arrives to check if it functions (hoping it will work).

It looks like they're still dealing with issues from the initial problem. They might not have realized it was faulty, but they're hoping for a better outcome once the replacement part arrives. They mentioned getting one years ago that had bent pins, but they were aware of the problem beforehand. They also managed to repair it and get it functioning again, despite missing a few pins and having bent ones elsewhere. The board has remained operational to this day and is still used by the wife.

I just wish for something positive to happen for you—perhaps it will work out regardless. Doing this was the way I learned how to repair bent pins in a socket, and it requires a few steps to do right. Keep in mind this applies only to bent pins; broken pins can't be fixed by you. This seems like your best option though.
