dsl isn't dial-up, so a dial-up card won't help. You're likely better off using a separate modem for dsl. Which dsl standard are you using? Make sure the card supports freebsd.

I really didn’t know what DSL standard was being used. It seemed there were no expansion cards that could deliver DSL to any system. Probably got mixed up—CenturyLink actually used the regular phone cable for both DSL lines, even though we had to replace the wire from the basement connection point to the modem.
