Due to the idea behind Humble Bundles, many people who previously downloaded pirated copies now prefer other ways. The game I recently pirated was Watch Dogs—thankfully I did it, otherwise I’d have spent a lot of money. Most of the titles I wanted were either discounted on Steam Sales or Weekend Madness, or available in a Humble Bundle (like Bioshock and Mafia 2).
I used to be a kid who didn’t have the right to earn money, but it was the only way I could survive. My parents weren’t wealthy, so it was the only option. Now I’m not like that anymore, and I don’t think I’ll ever be again. I believe most piracy comes from kids who can’t afford to pay for it themselves. People generally understand developers deserve compensation for their work.
