I just assembled a PC for a friend using a Ryzen 3600 on an B450 M from Asus. Right after setup, I started benchmarks and stress tests to verify everything was functioning properly. I ran Cinebench R23 and monitored temperatures using Ryzen Master. Everything was running at stock cooler settings, but I was surprised to see the temps exceeding 100°C without any throttling. I halted the stress test once it hit 107°C, though it continued to run at around 3.9 GHz—still a first-time experience with Ryzen.

The CPU seems to be facing a potential issue. Trying to reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery might help, but I don’t think it will trigger a thermal shutdown at 115°C as expected.

Your issue was about the case, airflow, cooler installation, and temperature response. The cooling performance is adequate, the cooler mount is correct, and the speed should ramp up smoothly even without the stock unit.

Thermal throttling is an adjustment you can turn on or off in the BIOS. It usually starts as active, but might need to be re-enabled. Restart your BIOS settings.

I received the measurement from a calibrated sensor during the calibration process.

I checked with Ryzen Master and GPU-Z, and both showed identical temperatures.

Fixed the bios reset, spent about 20 minutes on cinebench and stayed under the 95°C threshold. Appreciate all the help!
