Hello! I had an old Asus M5A78L-M LX am3+ board with AMD Athlon II x4 and Windows 7 for my sister. She mainly uses it for social media, Netflix, and similar tasks—definitely enough for its purpose. Last month she watched Netflix as usual, but after dinner she came back and the computer didn’t respond. It showed “No signal” on the screen. I tried several fixes: restarted the board, let it sleep for 15 minutes, removed the battery, pressed the power button multiple times, even held it for 20 seconds. Nothing worked. I also tried using just one RAM stick, swapped RAM slots, removed the ATI HD6780 chip, used integrated graphics, changed cables and monitors, and even placed everything outside the case in boxes. Still no signal. Eventually, I got a new PSU and again nothing happened. With a different power supply, it worked fine on an old HP Pavilion Pentium IV. Windows XP was fully installed, and there were no unusual sounds or smells. The only clue was a small green LED that spun the fans but didn’t produce any other noise. This isn’t the first time this issue occurred—years ago, my AM3+ board with an Asus M5A97 also failed after using Windows 7 sleep mode. I always put the computer into sleep to save power, so I could restart it whenever needed. But sometimes, when I moved the mouse after waking up, there was no signal again. I changed RAM, replaced the CMOS battery, switched power supplies, etc., but nothing resolved the problem. It seems these motherboards might have stopped working due to the sleep mode feature, possibly linked to how they handled low power states. What do you think happened?

The Athlon X4 lacks an IGPU, which is why nothing is occurring.

Back then, the M5A78L-M LX came with an HD 3000 GPU, which performed well before switching to a system with the Radeon HD6780.

Really? I didn’t realize anything important was missed. Thanks for letting me know—I’m sorry I can’t help with your problem right now. My old laptop also stopped working properly, but I figured out the issue was the fan failure. It would wake up and shut down unexpectedly inside my backpack.
