My Steam Deck isn’t starting into SteamOS anymore. It’s been almost three months since I got it, and I upgraded from version 3.4 to 3.5.5 (the stable release). At first it worked until I turned it on a few hours later and the device kept showing the Steam Deck logo before refusing to boot further. When I went to the BIOS, there was no option for SteamOS. I tried booting from a file, but that also failed. After a system check, everything looked good. My only choice now is to reset everything to factory settings, though I have a lot of important data I don’t want lost.

Start from a running Linux system such as Ubuntu, check methods to export and store your information, and then reinstall SteamOS.

It’s best to get the Ubuntu ISO from the official source and use a program such as RUFUS to create a bootable drive. Once ready, insert the drive and attempt to boot – this is the initial phase
