During the process of gathering components for my initial PC build, I’ve always preferred waiting until something breaks before upgrading. Typically, I only switch parts once I see a shortage or when someone in an older model needs a replacement. This approach has kept me from being caught off guard by delays.

The main point is this: In late April, I selected the Gigabyte Aorus Pro X570 MB for my build. Unfortunately, it wasn’t available on Amazon or NewEgg. I decided to wait while I saved up for the purchase. However, I noticed other MB models were becoming available again. Amazon had a shipment of the Aorus X570 Ultra arriving in mid-May, and because of concerns about supply chain issues from the pandemic, I ordered the Ultra instead. It cost a bit more, but it offered some improvements without a drastic price jump.

I was satisfied with that choice. But this morning my order was due to arrive tomorrow, which I expected wouldn’t be on time since it hadn’t been marked as shipped yet. A few hours later I double-checked for updates and found new information! Sad My MB is now expected between June 2nd and June 16th. I’m curious—was this just a message they were sending, or did something go wrong during shipping? I hope I didn’t miss any important details. It’s frustrating having to wait an extra two weeks for my build...

You have the option to cancel the order if it hasn't been shipped yet and you'd like to place it elsewhere or on another board. If it was on backorder, chances are the shipment didn't arrive or you were placed higher on the list before it was sent. You can also cancel and order from a different site or board. Alternatively, you might wait—this next one should be delivered by the date they provided. That's why I try to avoid backordering.

It seems the issue is that x570 units are hard to find almost everywhere I search. I’d still be willing to spend money on them. There are some budget options and a few premium models available, but in the 200-300 price range I’m seeing very limited stock. You’re likely right—I was just at the lower end of my selection. Since I didn’t qualify for Prime shipping and chose free shipping, that probably didn’t affect my delivery status. I placed the order on May 2nd, and they told me it should arrive by mid-May, which made me hopeful. I guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer. If patience isn’t something I’ve mastered yet, I might struggle to keep waiting. The good side is I still have other components missing, so I can’t build right now either.
