I'm not criticizing consoles at all. I'm just curious if there are others who own powerful gaming setups with PS4 and play games limited to around 30 frames per second. Is 30fps smoother now compared to the previous generation? I recently tried playing Red Dead Redemption on a 360 and it felt quite choppy. Perhaps I missed it before switching to 60fps on PC. My goal is to possibly buy a PS4 for shooters and exclusive titles, so I want to know if I'll be okay with other games. I used to own a PS4 but sold it to upgrade my rig, and I don't recall playing any games at that frame rate anymore. Thanks for your help ahead of time.
I purchased a PS4 for my children, but received TLoU at 60fps... Most seem to run smoothly at that speed, though not all do. Regarding 30FPS trends, South Park: Stick of Truth
PC gaming has always centered on competitive play. I don’t want to own every new title; I’m okay spending now with a solid machine. While I might buy some games later, things like Battlefield are better enjoyed on my PS4. My brother uses Xbox only for competition, but it feels off to him. Still, I love gaming on my PS4—playing Far Cry 4, BF4, BF Hardline, Destiny, etc. Right now I’m playing CS:GO because I started through 1.6 and Source.
Other titles at 30FPS don’t really affect my experience much. For instance, Forza Horizon 2 runs smoothly and feels great. Uncharted games also maintain solid performance even at that speed. But in first-person shooters, anything below 60FPS becomes bothersome—games like CS:GO or Battlefield really vary depending on the specific title.

I’m still using a Xbone and a PS4. The PS4 handles Netflix and GTA5, while the Xbone manages Forza and TV controls in the back room. I keep enjoying gaming on both, since each offers unique experiences. Honestly, computer gaming is still my favorite. The PS4 controller feels great, but I love the 360 controller too. Above all, a keyboard and mouse are truly essential.
