Hey everyone, I'm looking at some older Intel systems for a Batocera emulation setup. I need clarity on the requirements for running PS3 games with RPCS3. My PS3 slim handled The Last Of Us smoothly and ran on very old hardware. Does RPCS3 really add much extra processing power? Could an i5 4470 and a GTX 650 handle PS3 titles?

It requires a modern 6c/12t CPU to run smoothly. The emulation closely mimics the PS3 architecture, but it demands roughly ten times the power of the original hardware. Emulation is typically very demanding on the CPU, with the GPU playing a minor role. Even if it manages to run, performance will remain poor on such an old processor. Additionally, because the PS3 supports multiple threads, emulating many threads can improve stability, though it still requires significantly more computational effort compared to the real system.
