Absolutely! I tried it too. I received a packaged disc from a friend for my birthday, along with Undiscovered Realms. He discovered them in a bookstore long ago, and I enjoyed the demo on my old HP. It performed really well, especially in Windows 8 compared to other games from that era.
I tried it on my sister's machine. Since it was already available, it was a test version and I believe you could play the whole game, though the lives were restricted. Back then, my gaming options were pretty small—I finished the game in one go and got defeated by the final boss, so I never played again. Also, wolves are really powerful.
I played the demo for hours as a kid. Then bought the disk and played even more. I couldn't get my disk to work properly for Windows 8 so I bought it on steam. If I think about it I probability could get my old save off the hard drive in my old PC and continue. Alien shooter was another great game I played.
That's a fun way to recall the past! Cheese hats are such a nostalgic touch.
