No one has used Intel Extreme Tuning Utility before
hello i'm using an hp z400 pc with an intel xeon w3565 cpu that's liquid cooled. i'm considering using the intel extreme tuning utility to overclock it, but i've never used that tool before and would appreciate some guidance. as far as i know, the cpu is locked, so only the fsb and turbo frequency can be adjusted. what options do i have? i'm not aiming for a huge overclock, just a small increase.
Kaitlin Kaschak459 suggests avoiding overclocking software and recommends using BIOS settings to adjust voltages, followed by stress testing with tools like x264 real bench. She mentions the purpose of overclocking is to improve CPU performance for PC games, noting that GPU often plays a bigger role in most games.
Avoid using software for overclocking; rely on BIOS settings to adjust multipliers and voltages. Conduct a stress test using a program like x264 real bench. Is there a necessity for the overclock?
I only use Intel XTU when I'm stress testing for stability. It's very similar to AMD Overdrive in a sense that the dials are almost all the same. I recommend overclocking from the bios and not through software because of the potential risk of overvolting the CPU.
Avoid using software for overclocking; instead, use the BIOS to adjust multipliers voltages, etc. Then perform a stress test with a program like x264 real bench.
The purpose of overclocking is to make my CPU run PC games slightly better.

In most cases, your GPU is more important than your CPU for most games.
For Witcher 3, my GPU is just enough.
