I got a computer from work yesterday they planned to discard it but I brought it home. There’s no power button, that’s strange, so I’m going to jump the jumper and see what I can do. The TPM connector isn’t present, only empty pads?
they chose a particular board version (some designs might share the same PCB) didn’t require a TPM header, so they omitted it from the board. It’s quite typical to include various “noise” component shapes on a board—your screenshot clearly shows many of them scattered around.
The process seems quite unusual—connecting the 24-pin power wire straight to ground during startup. It’s possible you were trying to ensure a stable connection, but that method might not be ideal.
