I own an older vehicle where my 10-year-old foster is currently in use until a new build comes along later this year. It still runs Windows 7 HP, but some apps from the Windows Store require 10 GB of storage. I’m wondering if anyone has attempted a free upgrade recently. The machine was assembled quickly using whatever I had available, so it’s running a Q9550 processor with 8 GB DDR3 RAM and a GTX680 4 GB GPU. If a free update is possible, it would be a good deal, but it wouldn’t justify the cost until I have a new system.

The device works with Windows 10. You can test it without cost by disabling it; if the results are unsatisfactory, remove it.

I activated Windows 10 on a friend's computer using a Windows 7 key, and everything has worked smoothly so far.

When was this really concluded? @vladyrgramr I understand it officially closed, but there are still ways to access it. I tried the USB upgrade method about a year ago and was curious if anyone knows if it still functions.

It continues to function. I lent my brother-in-law some old keys a few weeks ago, and they all worked properly.

I support this approach too—I recently upgraded my old setup from 7 Pro to 10 Pro using it. The W7 key enables Windows 10.
