Previously it functioned but some updates introduced issues by embedding microcodes. I own an ASRock X99 iX MOBILE and a 6800k processor. I attempted to revert the BIOS to version 3.10, which supports Broadwell-E chips, but the multiplier remains unchanged. The system keeps crashing despite BIOS adjustments. Currently I'm using BIOS revision 3.80 with microcode 0B00002A. I tried installing Windows from an old image, but the problem persists. Adding CPUZ and recent updates didn't resolve it. In BIOS the multiplier is set to 42, which is frustrating since I rely on higher speeds for streaming. The situation is really challenging.

I think Windows turned off OC for the X99 board CPU because they reported "security problems," though I'm not entirely sure.

It seems likely due to the meltdown or Spectre, but there should be a solution. I bought an unlocked chip and I definitely need to be able to overclock it.
