Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out my NVMe x4 setup and the PCIe lanes involved. I've got a GPU using 16x and a WLAN card with 1x, which already uses 17 lanes. My CPU can handle up to 20 lanes, plus some reserved, and the chipset might support up to 6 SATA lanes. I also know that with M.2 devices, two ASATA ports disappear. The internet says ASATA connects directly to the CPU, so those ports add up. If I skip the x4 and go for an x2 M.2, would that make sense? Also, if I swap the WLAN card for a 3.0 USB one, could that help? Let me know what you think!

The northbridge provides four SATA ports and adds two extra SATA lanes via the M.2 connection. The overall count remains at twenty-four lanes.
