But iChat theater wasn't a screen-sharing tool. It just swapped the webcam video feed with whatever media you entered into the chat, letting you use your computer freely without anyone noticing. A few friends and I used this to view our paintball recordings or watch films together without needing to share screenshots or send files. It functioned quite smoothly.

The same applies to MSN—it's superior to what came after. It does need a Premium plan for multiple users, but iChat Theater offered more functionality. I managed to work around it by using XSplit, placing a screen area, and configuring my webcam in Skype to connect via XSplit, though the sides were cropped and there was a watermark from XSplit.

I never thought about this approach. I’ll give it a shot next time I host a video call. If it functions well enough, I’ll assume it’s similar to iChat Theater B).
