Just downloaded Homeworld: Remastered and Homeworld: Deserts of Khar from Steam. The Remastered includes HW1 and HW2 with modern graphics updates. DOK is a fresh title. Around Q4 2022, Homeworld 3 was expected. I saw the Game On: Emergence on GOG for $10—may buy later. Probably better than the earlier titles. I’ve been playing DOK for a few days now; it’s a bit tougher than before but still fun. Anyone else is playing this?
They tried all of them, enjoyed HW1 and Cataclysm, and appreciated the variety of mods I added, such as the Star Wars vs Star Trek project by Zeelich. I struggled with HW2 because it felt like a micro management challenge—using mixed ship types to attack supply lines, dealing with losses, and retreating when lines were cut. The storyline was engaging, but HW1 and Cataclysm stood out more. The remastered version didn’t work well; it needed many mods to function properly, and the current setup is flawed. I played through a few sessions before uninstalling. For Emergence, it’s essentially Cataclysm, though it was renamed. If you play that one, remember it’s HW1 with extra hacks. There’s no official source code since it was developed by another company, so updates to modern systems aren’t possible. It tends to crash a lot, and you’ll need to adjust settings for 16:9. Just save your progress and enjoy the narrative.
Also considered Starcom: Nexus, which shares a similar gameplay yet offers an open world experience.
