With a complete retail license, you shouldn’t have to remove that key. This is usually the exception for OEM keys. In the worst scenario, you might install Windows without activation and contact Microsoft for assistance.

There isn't an "unbind" option available. You're modifying something. As long as the motherboard remains unchanged, the key stays in the BIOS. If you make many adjustments, it could disable it, and you'll need to contact support to reactivate it.

It was really unusual, but I’m sure there were good reasons. Swapping everything except the SSD earlier and getting quick help from Microsoft made a big difference. I kept all my licenses linked to my account without any problems.
