PC question - only 2 years old… lol Not sure what's going on at all. Before I owned this thing, everything worked fine without the ethernet cable attached because i had to shut down the computer completely and restart it just to get those back ports working, but it wasn't a big deal right now. Now it won't turn on at all. I unplugged the PC from the wall, unplugged every USB port, waited 30 seconds, then held the power button down while everything was off. Sometimes turning off the power supply unit (PSU) and unplugging it works too. It's a ASUS X670-P PRIME WIFI AMD AM5 ATX computer. There doesn't seem to be a physical power button on the board itself besides just unplugging and pressing reset. I turned off all options that came with the USBs, turned on ERP in the BIOS. I took it to Microcenter and they said they couldn't screw one of the drivers into it so they let me sit there for a day instead. The next day when i turned it back on it worked instantly. They ran stress tests on every single thing and everything came back fine and working normally. I have absolutely 0 clue what to do next other than RMA (return it) for both the board and hopefully that fixes things, and maybe the PSU later if that doesn't work. The only one i haven't tried yet is switching out the RAM sticks and removing the CMOS battery button - because i can't see this being a bios problem or a windows issue so reinstalling isn't really necessary.

Sounds like a cold solder joint somewhere on the board, or a short somewhere. Replace the MB if you don't want to start on the bench piece by piece.

It's so strange that my Ethernet cable port has been acting up since I set up the system, and I never really paid attention to it at first. Now it keeps turning on itself randomly. It might just be a short somewhere in the board... Zzz Oh wow, I'm so scared of having to deal with ASUS RMA and all those crazy horror stories I've heard about it.

This unit has its own extra backplate for I/O. Please check to make sure no tiny tension springs are actually plugged into a USB port or other place inside it.
