I'm trying to overclock my MSI r9 390 but most OC guides I'm using mention a temp limit slider. I can't find one in MSI afterburner, so I was just wondering if there was any way to activate it if it's missing, or if it's even that important to actually overclock.

Temp Limit
The updated GeForce GTX7xx / Titan series vgas includes an improved boost feature built on the foundation of the GTX6xx vgas. Boost 2.0 introduces a Temp Limit alongside the previous Power Limit. The current boost capacity is now influenced by both the Power and Temperature constraints. To adjust the temperature setting, you must use a compatible version of Afterburner (3.00 Beta 10 or later). Click the down arrow next to the Power limit slider, and the Temp Limit will become accessible.

there is no temperature cap in the afterburner mode. you must use a hardware monitoring tool to track your hardware temperatures. keep them consistently below 90°C, ideally under 85°C for optimal performance and minimal throttling. it's crucial to monitor temperatures because overheating can damage your card. you can configure a custom fan curve so fans operate at full speed when temperatures reach around 70°C. remember to maintain the card voltage below 1.3V for longevity. always test every 30-40MHz interval using the Ungine Heaven benchmark, avoiding any artifacts or overheating. if issues arise, increase the frequency by 30-40MHz and retest. adjust voltage accordingly—more heat means more thermal stress. be cautious of thermal runaway.
