Absolutely! Sure, the 4790K was impressive back then, and no other processor could have kept up for seven years. But even icons eventually have to pass the torch.

Yes, if you had just received four threads, you could have upgraded. It didn’t seem much more costly. A wait of seven years is still a long time either way. Still, a mid-cycle upgrade to 8600k/9600k wouldn’t have made much difference today. Six threads isn’t enough.

If I were you, I'd choose the 5800x version. It's frequently discounted under the manufacturer's recommended price and offers good value.

I’ll consider this later. Initially, I wanted to verify if a 5600x resolution was suitable for a 3070TI, and it appears it is. A 5800x would likely be a more worthwhile upgrade.

If you plan to keep using it another seven years, the additional value from a 5900x over seven years will likely pay off. Personally, a 5800x now and a 7800x in four years seems more sensible. Keep in mind, faster CPUs tend to hold their value better, so the $100 gap isn’t as significant long-term. The 5900x is probably cheaper than a 5800x within three years. 3900x are selling for more than the $100 difference compared to a 3800x today, making the quicker model more affordable overall. If a CPU locks you into an older generation, it can actually save money. This applies only when similar CPUs with vastly different performance exist.

They mentioned a 3070ti paper launch. There are partner boards available, though there aren't any dedicated Nvidia boards yet—maybe they'll add them later. The graphics card scene is changing unexpectedly. I’m sensing it’s going to stabilize, but only for specific cards in certain regions. It’s hard to say what’s happening right now.

Because my life has frequently taken me across the world every couple of years, I don’t feel at ease with long-term investments. There’s also a high likelihood I’ll relocate soon. That’s why I decided to create a small ITX build, which would be simpler to transport.

The 5800x model is likely to be available for resale within 2-3 years, making it a straightforward option. The price increase post-resale won't exceed $100. Demand will rise as more buyers aim to upgrade.

When considering international shipping, an AIO becomes more appealing. They tend to handle damage well due to their design. The reduced head weight and secured radiator add to their resilience. If you anticipate selling or refurbishing them in a few years, a 6-core unit could be practical—possibly even a more affordable alternative to the 5600. It might offer better value with some performance upgrades.

The shop I’m at builds tailored laptops using the 5800X. It might be the perfect fit for me! With my limited mobility, the built-in RTX 3080 could actually feel more powerful than a 3070 thanks to its compact design.
