On Amazon the CPU reaches its limit at 5600, which seems unusual. The motherboard you're thinking of is Z790—either the Aurus AX or MSI Tohahawk. I’m okay with enabling an XMP profile, but I don’t want to manually overclock RAM. Will the CPU maintain the advertised speed? Thanks!

XMP offers an alternative overclocking method without requiring manual timing adjustments. The 13600 chip supports this feature. Does this address your query?

It's especially useful when your motherboard has that feature, as you can check the QVL (RAM compatibility) section on the manufacturer's site under support or QVL.

XMP is widely used for most RAM systems today. I’m only checking if the CPU and MOBO can operate at maximum performance.

It indicates that having more than 5600 MHz RAM requires enabling XMP profiles.

DDR5 memory operates at a baseline frequency of 4800MHz, with 5600MHz representing an XMP overclock setting.

The motherboard typically handles the fastest JEDEC performance available for the system, meaning a 6400MT/s specification would likely operate at that rate right out of the box—or at least attempt to. The 5600 speed refers specifically to Intel’s guaranteed minimum performance. Any higher figure isn’t assured and wouldn’t justify warranty coverage.

I’ve reviewed the material and checked similar configurations—most people report reaching 6000 without issues using XMP.

It would operate exclusively at 4800mhz without XMP support. You’d have to turn on the overclock instead of running at stock speed.

It would run at 4800mhz without XMP. The kits that are rated for 5600mhz and 6000mhz etc are designed and tested from factory to run at the speed stated WITH XMP / AMD EXPO enabled! but come at 4800mhz stock speed from factory. That being said, XMP and EXPO IS an overclock so there is a small chance that it won't run stable at that speed but its rare. I have been building PC and used XMP profiles since 2007/2008 and never came across a kit that is unstable.
