Using a recognized brand is fine, but I’d prefer to keep the documents in storage. For backup, the USB can serve as a reliable secondary option. How would you set that up if you wanted? Thank you!

I wouldn't rely on a USB drive for important backups. These devices are easily infected with malware that can erase your information. They're also tiny and can be easily misplaced. Consider storing your data in the cloud instead?

I wouldn't rely on a single USB stick. But if the files are small and crucial, I'd use several USB drives. My Keepass database is kept on a few USB drives and a 3.5" floppy drive, since it’s just convenient to connect and you really only need kilobytes. Cryptolocker storage isn’t safe unless it’s plugged in.

Use Google Drive with a strong password and secure session settings. That’s my current plan for storing documents, particularly when handling large Excel files.

I’d prefer a more substantial storage option, not just because of the fear of viruses, but because the size of a USB drive can easily get lost under, inside, or behind other items, making it nearly impossible to locate when you need it most. Floor drives from Western Digital or Seagate are among those that fit this description.

You don't specify the size of your backup needs. As mentioned before, an external USB drive works better than USB. 500GB drives are affordable. You might also consider cloud storage at no cost or a reasonable rate. I use Microsoft One Drive solely for storage, with the first terabyte free.
