Been using the w10 preview on secondary laptop since last year, and will keep it installed as long as its available. My main PC will be kept on w7 for at least a few months time, I'm in no rush and waiting for it to be more stable. Samsung laptop/PC? I read a while back about Samsung software blocking Windows updates . You could try creating an ISO or USB installer, using Microsoft's download & media creation tool here , and try upgrading via that.

Improved version:
Upgraded the product and used it for three days. Discovered many issues, security flaws, poor choices, and ultimately decided to stop using it. I plan to try it again in six months, hoping the final version will resolve those problems. I don’t want to be a beta tester again...

Tested the preview on some of my old beater PCs. It didn’t really stand out positively. I’ve always tailored Windows to my preferences since the 98se era—just a bit less now with Windows 7. The 10 version doesn’t seem to offer much better performance compared to the customized versions I use for 7 and 8.1. Plus, I’m not one to rush adopting new operating systems; it’s usually better to wait a while before committing. 7 and 8.1 are solid enough on their own. Why jump to something that might be unreliable given Microsoft’s history? I’ll give it another month and see if things improve.

I assembled my computer myself. The only Samsung part is the SSD, and I haven’t installed any Samsung software yet, so it seems unlikely. I might consider switching to USB for an upgrade option. Could I also use an external hard drive instead of a USB drive? I suspect my USB might be too small for larger installations.

Unfortunately, it seems one of the component drivers isn’t fully optimized for Windows 10 or is still pending updates. Still, I’m eager to proceed with a clean installation right away.

You can choose to upgrade later. You won’t require a large USB drive—the .iso file for Windows 10 Pro is roughly 3 to 3.5 GB, and each 4 GB of USB storage should suffice.

Hello, welcome! I see you're experiencing issues with booting after upgrading. It sounds like the process might be taking too long or encountering some errors. Have you tried restarting your laptop or checking for any updates? If the problem persists, let me know more details so we can troubleshoot together.
