I’ll move soon and want to cut costs. Besides slower speeds, data caps, and network issues, are there other factors I should know about? For example, how does the plan handle streaming or online gaming? What’s the reliability of the WiFi tethering? Do you experience any unexpected charges or service interruptions? Let me know if anyone else has done this—your insights would be helpful. Thanks!

I connect Mint to my car using a tether, and everything has worked smoothly so far. It hasn’t been tried in a home environment with a PC, TV, or Roku. I’m not sure I’d switch to dedicated internet just to lower my Mint expenses. Are you experiencing full 5G speeds while using Mint?

If your setup has a metal roof, skip the Wi-Fi connection. For a standard roof, expect slower speeds and more lag, especially with mobile hotspots. Plans often limit hotspot usage more than data limits.

Thank you for your quick reply. Yes, I experience full 5G speeds now! That’s quite fascinating—especially since my roof is covered with solar panels. I’ll have to look into it further. I understand it’s not identical, but it’s definitely worth considering.

Yeah. I can't get signal in my house, but if I open the front door and stand next to it, I'm okay.

I bought a refurbished OnePlus 7T Pro MCLaren while on AT&T and it performed well. After switching to Mint, I’m limited to 2G/3G (automatic) mode or I lose calls and texts. They say it can’t be detected on 4G/5G when I call, but it works when I switch SIM cards back to my OnePlus 3. I think I got one of those used or faulty units. I really like the phone and am considering buying another to test, but you’ll need a used model to get the unlocked version. Just note I’m using it slower than yours, and I don’t want to try tethering at home.
