Apples and oranges really go well together. Game makers aim for stunning visuals while keeping performance high, which makes direct comparisons tricky. They wouldn’t release games that look lifelike if they only ran at half the frames, yet better hardware would push studios to add more demanding graphics features. Overall, game graphics evolve gradually rather than in sudden jumps like graphics cards. Sometimes new features appear in one game and then reappear in another, but each implementation is often more refined. Adding complex effects such as real-time global illumination, advanced tessellation, particle-based water simulation, and depth-of-field water would require a decade or more of GPU progress to make a meaningful impact. That’s why my first thought is: apples and oranges mate.
