I have used my Corsair Void Pro Surround headset for just over two years. It performed well throughout that period. But yesterday I completely lost the microphone input from the device. I attempted various solutions, but nothing resolved the problem.

I installed all available updates via iCue.
I disconnected and reconnected all connections.
I removed the USB extension cable.
I tested different USB ports—no USB docks, just plugging directly into the motherboard.
I verified that the Windows sound settings were intact.

Windows is unable to detect any microphone input, and Discord also fails to recognize it. The only time I see activation is when I press the mute button on the headset side. Discord briefly shows the mic as active for a moment, but I can’t keep it pressed halfway to maintain it. I restarted the PC several times and kept Discord updated, though I suspect the issue runs deeper. Windows and Discord both detect the microphone properly. I can still select the mic as an input device in both apps, which was its default setting before. The headset functions correctly—games, websites, and conversations on Discord are all clear.

Anyone have additional suggestions? I’m really concerned about this headset. My previous $20 model stopped working after five years, and this $60 one has failed after just two uses.

Run a test on another system; if it fails, the microphone hardware may be faulty, possibly due to issues with the mic or the cables.

I really broke the headset after trying everything else. The wire in the flexible mic arm is a very thin copper wire that broke apart. I removed the mic and bought a new desk mic because the rest of the headset was still in good condition.
