I’ve saved a bit here. I own a 500GB SSD from my late 2009 27" iMac. It functioned well for a year before I decided to sell it. I cleared everything by using Disk Utility, deleting the drive and wiping all data. Then I reinstalled the OS, downloaded it, but encountered an error: “Could not create a preboot volume for APFS install.” I followed a tutorial that suggested restarting, booting back into the utility, and erasing everything before reinstalling. Now I’m left with just the base OSX installation, which is only 2GB. Can you help me resolve this?

It seems like the issue might have occurred during partitioning. Consider moving it to a different machine, formatting it, and then installing a new operating system.

Suggest starting from recovery mode and entering the terminal command "diskutil list" to check for available drives.
