the router uses DSL while the wall device supports VDSL2 over copper and they provided an adapter. the device model is the Swisscom "internet box plus" you can find here: https://www.swisscom.ch/en/residential/h...etbox.html

Sure, you could purchase a new router instead. Using a solid access point and turning off your existing ones would work too.

It seems you received an eMTA—essentially a digital voice modem/router. Reach out to your ISP to confirm compatibility. Your provider Comcast is quite strict about what they support, which is why we discontinued phone service. This is one reason we moved away from it. If you can, consider switching to bridge mode by using your existing box as a modem and connecting a separate router.
