Hello there, my Windows 10 was updated recently and since then the computer has been freezing unexpectedly, showing critical_process_died. I removed the update but reinstalled it, yet the update remains enabled despite being disabled. The latest issue is that I managed to log in briefly before restarting, but now the Crucial MX500 M.2 SATA SSD isn’t recognized by BIOS or Windows installation. This prevents me from booting, as no detection appears and I’m immediately taken into BIOS. It was correctly placed in its slot before, working perfectly. After the update and relocation to a different location, the system became unstable. I unplugged another SATA HDD and replaced the CMOS battery, but it didn’t resolve the problem. Please let me know if you need any assistance.

Request someone to try the external drive on their computer and check functionality. If issues persist, the drive may be damaged and your crashes likely tied to it.

The issue lies in relocating to a location 1100km away for work, while none of my current coworkers possess the M.2 SATA port I intended to bring along. The SSD and system are only about a year and a half old.

Bad luck ignores age and doesn’t need approval.

Absolutely, I've attempted all possible solutions and can't get the chkdsk running because it isn't recognized. I'm eager to resume gaming after a four-month break when I had no PC access due to COVID. If you have any ideas, feel free to share them. I'll bring this to Monday if something comes up.

Consider purchasing an M.2 NVMe-to-USB, a M.2 SATA-to-USB, and a standard SATA adapter on eBay or similar platforms. This way, you'll have alternatives ready if needed later. These items are affordable, making it a low-cost solution even if you never use them.

Ordered a M.2 SATA to USB drive soon; next SSD expected to be NVMe for improved speed. I didn’t realize it would sometimes boot up before updating the BIOS, and after that it no longer recognizes it.
