The drawback of Process Lasso is that you can't disable other CCDs during gaming—your chip isn’t put into standby mode. Running games on CCD0 while background processes run on CCD1 can limit your TDC and EDC budgets for the specific chiplet you need work done. If AMD’s internal tools are managing this, simply instructing the BIOS to prioritize a certain frequency or use vcache reduces overhead significantly. Process Lasso works similarly to Core Flex in the BIOS, automatically directing workloads to CCD0 when it meets user-defined memory thresholds and usage limits. From Intel’s perspective, this approach aligns with APO functionality, shifting background tasks to E cores. At least... that’s how I’ve interpreted these tools and tested them. Back to the BIOS updates... These changes can alter the V/F curve and the internal behavior of AMD’s boost algorithm. Ideally, before undervolting, you expect the chip to have built-in voltage margins so it remains stable at lower voltages. If AMD discovers it was using more margin than necessary, the Curve Optimizer may respond differently. I’ve noticed this on my 5900X—new BIOS versions often fix bugs but also adjust CO settings for more sensitive cores.
I noticed the same issue on a different build with an MSI Bios, which helps explain it. It seems compatibility problems are common with today's hardware.
