I just got a new PC. It functioned properly until I added my GPU. I checked everything to confirm compatibility. After plugging it in, it booted up correctly so I downloaded the latest drivers. When I restarted after downloading, it worked again. But later this morning it wouldn’t boot at all. I followed the usual steps—removing the GPU and performing the CMOS reset—but it still didn’t work. Eventually, I tried a restart and it returned to a black screen with no display. I’ve done some troubleshooting and discovered it only boots if I disconnect the GPU and perform the CMOS reset each time. I’m having trouble finding more information online and would really appreciate some guidance on how to fix this. My motherboard is Asus Q87M-E, CPU is I5-4570, GPU is Asus Radeon R9 290 4GB, PSU is EVGA 600W1, RAM is 8GB DDR3 x1600 Kingston HyperX Blu.

Upgrade the power source, these R9 models consume a lot of power and wouldn't be my top pick for an improvement.

I would add another driver—prefer a newer version if available, or an older one if needed. Confirm you're installing the right disk. If nothing works, consider updating the BIOS.
