It all comes down to how well BF1 launches. If it follows the standard DICE approach, BF4 will maintain a larger player base. When they do it right, BF4’s numbers will drop slightly more. Still, because of its richer content and ongoing updates, it should attract and retain players longer. DICE LA has made significant improvements to BF4, and it seems to have a strong, loyal fanbase that will likely keep the game alive for a while. As long as EA keeps the servers running, the game won’t disappear.

Not dead at all. Much less active than before. There are still games available on BF3, but the player base has shrunk considerably. I think the same will happen with BF4 after BF1 comes out

It seems like I’m agreeing with that view. Battlefield 1 feels more like a copy of Battlefront with a different setting and gameplay style. If you check the character animations and pacing, it still resembles Battlefront. Many players still enjoy Battlefront 3. Another point is I recently got Battlefield 4 and the servers are really busy, but I’m enjoying it.

Nope. BF1 feels more like a Battlefront experience, similar to BF3 after BF4 launched. Many players still enjoy BF3, and I believe the player numbers for BF4 won’t drop significantly when BF1 releases.
