No audio from Netflix app using optical cable
No audio from Netflix app using optical cable
Hi
I own a Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER motherboard, Edifier S350DB speakers connected via optical cable, and I use Windows 10/Windows 11. The audio generally works well and remains stable, but when using the Netflix or Disney Plus apps, it suddenly plays a brief crackling sound before the audio disappears. When accessing these services through a browser, there are no issues with sound quality.
Any suggestions on resolving this would be greatly appreciated!

Are you dealing with two tricky operating systems on the same machine? I’m saying tricky because Microsoft’s OS since Windows 8 has been quite finicky about modifications or dual booting. I’m guessing you’re using a dual boot setup, given the use of the / symbol to indicate both. Can you remember which version of Windows 10 you were running before switching to Windows 11?
Which web browsers have you tested to see if the problem lies with the applications? I’m assuming there are no additional connections to or from the speaker system besides power and the single optical cable, plus the satellite speakers, right?
If you have the most recent BIOS update on your system...

You're dealing with two tricky operating systems on the same machine? I find this situation tricky because Microsoft Windows has been quite particular about modifications or dual booting since Windows 8. If you're using a dual boot setup, that's likely the case. Could you remember which version of Windows 10 you were running before switching to Windows 11?
Are there any specific browsers you've tested to see if they're causing the problem? I'm guessing there are no other connections to or from the speaker system besides power and the single optical cable, plus the satellite speakers.
If your motherboard's BIOS is up to date, you might try removing your audio drivers and then reinstalling the newest ones from Gigabyte's support page, using an elevated command prompt—Right click the installer and select Run as Administrator.
It seems the issue might be related to your speakers not supporting digital codecs like DTS or Dolby. Are you using a soundcard that's built into the mainboard? Or is it connected via GPU to an HDMI TV and then through an optical connection? If integrated, check your soundcard settings for the default digital audio output format. If connected through a TV or similar device, adjust the format type there to PCM.
