So after this has occurred twice on two different machines, something unusual is definitely going on. The current setup uses a Ryzen 7 5800x with an Asus x570-P board and an 1660 Super GPU. The old system ran a core i5 9600 with a Gigabyte H310M board and the same GPU. Both machines experienced the same issue: after trying to shut down, they entered a loop where fans sped up briefly before settling back down, lasting until the power was cut. When I rebooted, nothing happened—no screen, no USB devices working, not even the keyboard or mouse. The only consistent parts were the GPU and the boot drive. It’s worth mentioning the new machine has been functioning normally for about a month, so I thought a surge might have damaged the previous one. But this happened again on the other side too. Both are connected to a surge protector. I recently swapped in a new GPU (RTX 3070), removed all drives, and left the CMOS battery in place to see what had occurred overnight—still no change this morning. Any suggestions? I’m really stuck.
