I was planning to purchase a Ryzen 5 but with the launch of the Zen 2 architecture, I’m considering the newer Ryzen 3 offers more value. My biggest worry is that once the Ryzen 5s are released next month, I might miss out on them.

The Ryzen 5 3600 and 3600X use Zen 2 processors. The upcoming Ryzen 5 models are expected to switch to Zen 3, with the Ryzen 4000 lineup still unknown.

Upcoming in the coming weeks, the Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300x models will become available again, while AMD's fourth-generation processors (Zen 3) are expected to launch between July and December this year. Generation 3 (Zen 2) chips have already been released, and I believe no additional new AMD chips will appear until the fourth generation arrives.

These models are the Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X. They were recently announced, and the review period has ended. You can't purchase them right now, which might be what the person posting is trying to do.

Current prices are a bit higher, the Ryzen 5 1600AF is now $120 locally, before the pandemic it was $85. The next-gen Ryzen models are coming soon, which means there’s still time to wait.
