I possess a fresh M2 SSD and have already set up the Microsoft Media Creation Tool on my USB drive. The operating system is prepared for installation on my new M2 storage via BIOS. My issue is that I require an internet connection—either a wired LAN or a wireless link—to complete the clean install using the tool on my USB. Unfortunately, my motherboard, the ASUS ROG Strix B550-F GAMING, doesn’t include a LAN or wireless driver. I need to download the driver from their website: https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-st..._download/. If I had started the BIOS installation immediately, I might have encountered difficulties downloading the OS due to missing connectivity. Can someone assist me with this setup?
You can transfer the OS to your SSD using a larger drive, even if it exceeds 8 GB. Your laptop supports connecting the OS via LAN to your USB, and you can upgrade storage as needed.
Use the Media Creation Tool to generate a Windows installer on your USB drive without needing an internet connection. The tool prepares the USB for booting and starts the Windows 10 installer. You’ll receive the installation files that fit within an 8 GB limit. You won’t perform a fresh installation through BIOS; instead, you might need to access BIOS settings to enable the USB as the operating system source. The M.2 drive will remain empty during this process, and BIOS won’t be required for the install.
