The Ryzen 1600AF is built on a 12nm process and was introduced alongside the 400 Series MB and 2000 Series CPUs. I'm checking if an older 300 Series board would need a BIOS upgrade for the 2000 Series CPUs to support it.

You can also use different 1000 series Ryzen chips. However, you need to update the BIOS to back the newer AF 1600 release.

I was nervous about it. I planned to buy a used, inexpensive 300 Series board, but I’m unsure if the BIOS will be compatible with the 1600AF.

If it's available, confirm with the seller that the bios are fully current and functioning properly. It should be in good condition. They're getting these new units. You're unsure about what might be stored there.
