It's quicker because there are less changes, and it will use a direct link instead of a signal over air.
1Gb ethernet is faster than most WiFi but also your internet connection is probably the speed limit here. I doubt you're getting a full gigabit to your house, probably close to 100Mb download and 20Mb upload. Also, mind the difference between GB and Gb. Big B is Byte, small b is bit. 8 bits in a Byte, so 1GB is quite a lot larger than 1Gb. And then there's the world of KiB, a Kibibyte! 1024 bytes, with a Gibibyte, GiB, being 1024 KiB. but to simplify things, most of the time you use lowercase b when talking about data transfer speeds (SATA, WiFi, etc.) and uppercase B when talking about capacity (Hard drives, SSDs, RAM)
False. Newer gadgets typically rely on WiFi 5, known as 802.11ac, which can reach speeds of up to 1.3Gbps. The newest standard, WiFi 6 (802.11ax), offers significantly higher performance. WiFi 5 also provides quicker data transfer capabilities.
there wasn't a similar joke from bit wit about that price range.
Under perfect circumstances, ideal situations are rare. When near my router I achieve the maximum speed offered by my ISP, but shifting to another room drops the connection almost in half, along with latency. Unless there’s another access point or a router present in that space, reaching 1.3gbps is extremely unlikely. Other elements like the WiFi card quality also play a big role. In general, using an Ethernet cable tends to be faster and more reliable.
