This title is launching in 15 years, and its competitive community is expanding. I thought it would be good to open a discussion thread. Whether you're a player or just watching, share your opinions about the game, your character, or your favorite competitors—Smash Summit 2 is on the horizon, any guesses?

Thanks to Westballz, PPMD and M2K, my top players are Falco and Marth—probably my favorite characters. I don’t compete seriously; I just play for fun and mostly enjoy Falco. Also, back in the year 20XX, everyone was obsessed with Fox. You heard it here first, probably not the first time.

I used to love M2K, but since Smash 4 arrived his style has really fallen flat. Hungrybox and Armada just don’t match up well against M2K consistently. Still, he’s one of the most entertaining players when he’s playing strong. That game with Marth is unbeatable. I’m looking forward to seeing how Mango handles Marth – he’ll be using it a lot at Summit, which could lead to some really creative moves.

I often choose an underdog or unique player as my top pick and might adjust my choice once I get to know the scene better. My first time watching Melee was EVO2013. For me, the standout players are Armada, followed by Shroomed, S2J, and Axe. My go-to character seems to be Shiek. I really enjoy watching quick, fluid movements and combos.

I think it's just awesome how M2K can be competitive in so many games at the same time but he is not the very best at Smash 4 yea. But I just love his Marth or Sheik gameplay in Melee or his Meta Knight in Brawl (not PM) S2J's Falcon though! Sadly Axe has switched to maining Fox And Armada is just great too, love him see Peach, not that much of a fan of his Fox (not that he's bad with him, of course not! but just... ya know)

I also enjoy Armada's Fox quite a bit. It seems to stand out from the typical Fox approaches. However, changing to Axe could potentially add him to my watchlist.

It's fascinating how each character shines with unique flair despite similar roles. When did Axe move to Fox? He's been focusing more on Falco recently, yet I haven't noticed his fox much.

I don’t really get the competitive atmosphere, but I do set up my own little competitions on my GameCube from time to time. I’m even thinking about starting one soon. Usually I play Pikachu—people don’t like it much since I’m really into it—but also mewtwo or marth, and I tend to finish in second place against someone who always plays Link. I also have the 3DS version and enjoy it a lot, though not many friends own one, so multiplayer isn’t a big part of my playtime.

I really enjoy melee. I’m a big fan of Samus. I believe it’s shaping up similarly to Super Street Fighter 2 turbo—only certain characters will be featured, and a limited group of experienced players will likely dominate. My concern is that nothing significant will emerge from Smash, and I think the ranking order probably won’t change much. At least with SSF2T, new techniques and combos appeared through a low-tier character who could still be interesting if someone dares to try. I’m hoping for some updates in Smash melee soon. It feels like things have been stuck for a while.
